The Development Manager shall be responsible and accountable for execution of all activities associated with project development. Includes management of greenfield, acquisition and co-development assets.
Supervise acquisition of lease, easement and other land agreements via land agent or direct landowner contact
Establish and coordinate relationships with stakeholders, including elected officials, regulators, utilities, landowners and community leaders, to support project development
Participate in policy outreach efforts to government officials regarding wind industry issues
Monitor Generation Interconnection studies performed by transmission providers and third parties
Manager the environmental study and permitting process
Supervise contracting, progress and deliverables of third-party consultants.
Support the financial analysis and modeling of the project
Supervise project level expenditures and invoice processing
Develop project budgets and schedule highlighting key milestones
Work closely and negotiate with commercial counterparties, government entities and other stakeholders on projects/transactions
Negotiate and establish local agreements that address tax abatement, road use and decommissioning
Expected travel 30 – 50%
Present development plans of a regular basis and prepare co-development leadership for upcoming major decisions and mitigations
Inform and collaborate with co-development steering committee on a regular basis
Liaise with all internal stakeholders as required to gain sign off and approval at appropriate milestones
Supervise external consultants, including budget, deliverables and quality control; evaluate proposals from consultants and make recommendations on scopes of work and final selection
Maintain professional working relationships and communication with in-house business development, engineering, wind resource, construction, sales, service, legal and finance
Collaborate with engineering team and external consultants to evaluate site layouts and constraints, technology options, schedule implication, interconnection applications and studies
Update tracking tools for permitting, real estate, and interconnection in order to summarize and communicate status, schedule and associated risk of permitting, real estate, and interconnection deliverables
Regular updates to the co-development reporting process
Prospect of investment opportunities to co-development team
Provide valuable support to the diligence process for acquisition opportunities, including evaluating developer capabilities and project level risks
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and SAP)
Ability to complete weekly reports

Education, Training, and Skills Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Sales or Marketing. MBA or graduate degree preferred
3 years minimum of work experience in project development, real estate, permitting, regulatory policy or project finance in the U.S. energy/power sector, for example in wind energy development
Has experience in and understanding of the North American power sector, including legal / regulatory aspects, market environment, stakeholders, counterparties, and other areas that impact growth initiatives.
Has knowledge and capabilities in all the aspects of project development, including power sales, commercial markets, pre-construction, permitting, transmission, project financing, contracts, land acquisition, and financial analysis.
Working knowledge of development, project finance, permitting and interconnection processes
Experience of project greenfield evaluation and feasibility analysis.
Understands financial models, risks, rewards, and what motivates value for portfolio projects, greenfield and acquisition opportunities.
Has participated in the development, negotiation, and execution of project agreements.
Guiding projects through financial close.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and interface effectively with cross-functional employee groups and external stakeholders
