Vestas-Steelhead Americas is seeking an action-oriented, experienced Public Engagement Specialist to support stakeholder engagement and communications for Steelhead's development portfolio. The position reports to the Director of Project Development and works closely with the development teams on community engagement activities. The position requires an ability to supervise simultaneous priorities for multiple projects. The role provides an opportunity to work on projects throughout the U.S. and the possibility of involvement in international projects.

Supervise and maintain project specific websites,
Support the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement strategies and outreach to build relationships and represent Steelhead projects favorably to garner support from community and government leaders, the public, local media, and landowners.
Identify and cultivate media relations with relevant organizations, develop relationships with media reporting on Steelhead or its projects, developing responses to media inquiries and local press releases
Research project locations and identify key stakeholders (elected officials, landowners, neighbors, community leaders) to tailor strategies to the specific community
Identify opposition and related risks to project success and implement mitigation strategies
Identifying local wind and solar energy supporters, activating those people to engage locally
Aid in the development and implementation of meaningful community programs that align with the project strategy
Support external communications, including writing and articulating compelling messages about our projects and enabling to maintain and update project-specific communications, including materials and positioning statements to maintaining a positive presence
Lead coordination of meeting and event planning logistics, including community informational sessions and landowner events
Provide strategic leadership in building effective relationships and making positive contributions in the community.
Attend meetings, as necessary, with stakeholders and develop meeting summaries and reports
Maintaining and building solid contact database for projects.

A bachelor's degree or higher in public relations, communications, political science, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience working in public affairs, public relations, communications, community organizing, or campaign management, for instance in renewable energy.
Experience designing and implementing effective grassroots campaigns, whether political or issue based.
A background in community/regional planning, renewable energy, environmental/public policy issues, campaign management, public involvement, conflict resolution, peacebuilding, and mediation.
Skilled writing and communication skills and experience drafting messaging and materials
Experience working with diverse stakeholders and landowners involved in complex projects
Experience responding to oppositional stakeholders and mitigating the influence of opponents
Experience preparing and implementing plans and budgets, including events
Professional work ethic and the ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize a variety of needs for multiple projects

Interested in learning facilitation skills and growing to facilitate complex public policy issues
Applicant must demonstrate good computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management. Graphic design and InDesign skills are desirable but not required.
