The energy transition is underway worldwide and offshore wind in the United States is poised for significant growth. The Director, Offshore Sales is a key member of our commercial deal team collaborating internally with an array of stakeholders and guiding customer engagements.
Supervise in the development and achievement of business plans and strategic targets for assigned customers in the North American offshore market.
Identify the drivers and segments of the marketplace and position the company and its offerings.
Create an action plan and timetables aligned with the company’s strategy, customer requirements and expectations.
Identify and develop significant relationships with consultants, developers and local entities resulting in early involvement in purchase agreements, contracts, up-to-date pricing, and revenue growth.
Participate in Sales planning, forecasting, goal setting and oversee closure of deal activity with effective closing plans implemented
Solve problems by seeking out relevant information and gauge its importance when making decisions
Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly
Ability to influence across organizational boundaries / with solid focus on working with & understanding different cultures
Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
Education, Training, and Skills Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Sales or Marketing. MBA preferred.
7-10 years’ experience in sales: technical sales, commercial customer communications, or contract negotiation and distinct expertise in at least one of these disciplines. Experience in a complex capital sales environment preferred.
Working knowledge of projects developed for electrical generation.
Background with an electrical developer encouraged
Flexibility with travel-based on the overall company goals (up to 30%).
Demonstrated success in the negotiation and closing of complex or long-cycle larger cap-ex agreements where long-term partnering is crucial to success.
Demonstrated success in understanding commercial terms, and negotiation strategy, balancing business profitability and customer needs.
Has a “Key Account Mindset”, specifically an understanding of how to handle customer accounts and support team selling.
Ability to understand technical language and to recognize and differentiate technical issues and translate needs to the Vestas value proposition for a customer.
Skilled written, and verbal, and presentation skills.
Solid critical skills and ability to make business case comparisons for internal and external presentation.
