Department Description
The Construction Project Manager - Offshore Wind is responsible for overall leadership, management and commercial success of Vestas' offshore wind projects in the United States. The Project Manager will ensure that Vestas offshore wind projects are delivered on time, within budget and scope following the required safety and quality standards. The Project Manager oversees all project execution activities from the time the contract is secured to full operation of the project site and handover to service. The role will ensure the project organization is staffed according to the Vestas standard offshore wind project organization or as otherwise agreed with the Project Director as the case may be, and will effectively coordinate relationships with the Customer, sub-contractors, suppliers as well as the Project Team and other internal key stakeholders. This position is overall accountable for meeting the project targets.

Initiate, plan, implement, control and close all activities associated with offshore wind project execution
Leads HSE effort and serve as ambassador for an injury and incident free safety culture at the project construction site
Identify all scope elements and is accountable for their timely delivery; identify opportunities for accelerating critical milestones
Responsible for project execution within budget; identify and exploit opportunities for cost savings
Serve as first point of contact to customer, including day-to-day communication and alignment with the customer, and is responsible for a relationship based on trust and
co-operation, thus increasing customer loyalty
Completely supervise and direct multi-disciplinary offshore wind construction project team
Be involved in- and control the day-to-day interface to all and any Labor Union related matters.
Implement and adhere to the Vestas management systems including the Vestas Construction Project Execution Manual, Offshore Stage Gate Model, HSE and Quality
Ensure effective project planning and control.
Monitor project progress, budget and performance on a continuous basis.

Coordinate the work of sub-contractors, allocating and utilizing resources in an efficient manner and maintaining a co-operative and effective team
Represent Vestas values and promote high standards in performance and integrity
Coach, mentor and develop project team members
Supervise contractors and vendors
Negotiates with customers
Negotiates internal priorities with different support function departments
Report and escalate via the Project Director or Steering Group as needed.
Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and ensure all reporting requirements are met on time and to the required quality.

Bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering or related field
5 or more years of project management experience in construction, or similar industry
1+ years’ experience in offshore wind project management
PMP, IPMA or Prince 2 certification
Core understanding of technical matters involved in construction such as offshore operations, heavy lift equipment and crane operations, logistics, and construction site
Skilled familiarity with power generation language and key terminology
Proven performance in establishing hard-working teams and achieving results through others by coaching, mentoring and target setting
Demonstrated ability to set and organise large budgets and resources
Skilled commercial insight and understanding of financial impacts of decisions with respect to project budgets
Ability to build professional customer relationships and effectively negotiate with customers to resolve disputes and promote win-win solutions
Experience in working effectively with work groups across a global organization
Effective change and conflict management. Proven decision-making skills with balanced risk taking
Function effectively in a time-sensitive setting in environments of rapid change and conflicting demands and is capable of balancing responsibilities
Solid English communications skills (verbal, active listening, written, meeting management, presentation)
Solid PC computer skills (MS Office) mandatory, MS Office - Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Primavera Project Management preferred. SAP knowledge highly
